The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is a Twenty20 cricket league in which West Indies teams compete. The CPL 2022 is going to be the league’s 10th edition. There will be six teams, four of which will be the hosts, including Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana, which will host the playoffs. The other two participating teams will be Jamaica and Barbados.
As usual, the tournament will start with a group stage during which each team takes on two opponents. Having played through their ten matches, the top four will advance to the knockout stage, where they will play in the semi-finals and final.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (STKNP) are title defenders and favourites to win it again. The tournament is set to start on August 30 and finish exactly a month later on September 30.
Here at 10CRIC, we aim to bring you the best CPL betting coverage on the market. We will provide the CPL 2022 odds as soon as possible, including outright odds for predicting the tournament winner. Once the league starts, we’ll update our offers regularly and give you the opportunity to bet live on every duel.

CPL odds
Pre-game CPL betting odds
Pre-game or pre-match odds get set before the toss takes place and the game begins. Using this option, you can bet on any of the various pre-game markets on offer at 10CRIC. The pre-match betting odds will only be available until the start of the match.
Pre-match CPL odds at 10CRIC are usually the most lucrative offers. You can bet on the match-winner, the top run-scorer, the best partnership, and any of our other markets as long as you place your bet before the game’s toss takes place.
Live/In-play CPL odds
Live betting starts after the toss in a cricket game. We offer exclusive Live Caribbean betting odds and markets during the match. Here you can bet on markets as the game unfolds and the dominance between the teams’ swings.
You can still wager on the match-winner, but at 10CRIC we offer so much more. Our live CPL betting markets include betting on how many runs a bowler will score, how the next batsman will be sent off the field, inning specific markets right down to what will happen in the next over or with the next ball bowled. What’s more, you can claim your winnings during the game too.
Outright CPL odds
Outright betting is when you bet on who will win the entire Caribbean Premier League tournament or named top bowler and top batsman of the series as a whole. In outright betting, you will need to wait until the whole series is over to claim your winnings. Outright CPL bets are available before the tournament starts and, in most cases, during the tournament.
Caribbean Premier League Betting Promotions
Here at 10CRIC, we offer various promotions and bonuses to suit all our customers’ taste. You can expect weekly sports bonuses, specific Caribbean Premier League promotions and our ever-popular Welcome Bonus offers. Our current CPL related bonuses are explained below.
CPL Teams in 2023
Like in all previous Caribbean Premier League editions, the CPL 2023 will consist of six teams. Since 2015, after the Antigua Hawksbills ceased to exist, the league has featured the same six nations.
The participating CPL teams 2022 include:
- Barbados Royals
- Guyana Amazon Warriors
- Jamaica Tallawahs
- St Kitts & Nevis Patriots
- Trinbago Knight Riderss
- Saint Lucia Kings
Below is general information on each participating team, including their top players, the moves they made in the offseason, and their chances of winning the upcoming Caribbean Premier League.
Barbados Royals
The Barbados Royals will play its second season under a new name after being known as the Barbados Tridents. The team is entering the season after a second disappointing CPL campaign, as it finished 5th and 6th in 2020 and 2021, respectively
The Barbados Royals 2022 squad consists of retained players Jason Holder (captain), Kyle Mayers, Hayden Walsh Jr., Oshane Thomas, and Nyeem Young, while their new signings include Obed McCoy and Devon Thomas. The Royals also assigned a new coach in April — the former Zimbabwean cricketer and last year’s lead assistant coach of the Rajasthan Royals, Trevor Penney.
The Royals will look to claim its third title after winning championships in 2014 and 2019, although experts aren't too optimistic about the team’s chances.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
The Guyana Amazon Warriors 2022 campaign created a lot of buzz among fans, as the team was announced as the host of the CPL 2022 playoffs. The Amazon Warriors are yet to win a CPL title, despite reaching the playoffs every year, including five final appearances, more than any other team.
The team retained four players — Odean Smith, Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, and Chandrapaul Hemraj. The new signings include all-rounder Keemo Paul and spin-bowler Gudakesh Motie. Coach Rayon Griffith will be leading the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The team is yet to assign a captain for the next season.
As mentioned, the Amazon Warriors are long overdue for a CPL title. Playing in front of the home crowd in the eventual playoffs will surely help and is definitely going to reflect Guayana’s odds of winning the championship.
Jamaica Tallawahs
The winners of the first CPL edition back in 2013 are getting primed for another year in which they’ll be looking to turn things around. Namely, the furthest the Jamaica Tallawahs have come since 2016 is the semi-finals.
The team retained its former captain Rovman Powell while also keeping two talented batters, Kennar Lewis and Shamarh Brooks. The Jamaica Tallawahs 2022 current signings include Fabian Allen and Brandon King.
Jamaica is going to be one of the two nations without the pleasure of hosting this year’s Caribbean Premier League, as that honour belongs to Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana. Nevertheless, the experts are giving the Tallawahs good chances of reaching the final four again, hoping to win their first title in six years.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots
After a rocky start in the CPL that led to two sixth places in the first two years, the team finally stood on its feet and began building a formidable squad. It all paid off last year when the Patriots finally won a title by beating the Saint Lucia Kings in the final by three wickets.
Considering last year’s success, it comes as no surprise that the Patriots had the highest number of retentions in the league. The team kept Dwayne Bravo (captain), Dominic Drakes, Evin Lewis, Sheldon Cottrell, and Sherfane Rutherford. The new members of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 2022 squad, for now, are Andre Fletcher and Darren Bravo.
St Kitts & Nevis is set to host the start of the CPL 2022 season. It will be home to seven matches between August 30 and September 4, with the Patriots playing in four of them.
Saint Lucia Kings
Saint Lucia is one of the two current CPL teams without a title. However, things turned around in 2021 after the team was purchased by the Punjabi Kings and was renamed from St Lucia Stars to St Lucia Kings. In the last two playoffs, the Kings got really close (and really unlucky), losing both final games.
The St Lucia Kings 2022 team has shown trust in four of its former players, retaining Alzarri Joseph, Jeavor Royal, Kesrick Williams, and Roston Chase. The new signings include Johnson Charles and Mark Deyal.
St Lucia is looking forward to hosting a portion of the 2022 CPL season at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Beausejour.
Trinbago Knight Riders
The Trinbago Knight Riders is the most successful team in the history of CPL, and it will be looking to extend its dominance by winning another title or at least reaching deep into the playoffs. Namely, the team has gotten to the semifinals in each of the previous nine editions, winning a record four times (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020).
The always favoured Trinibago retained five players from last year, including Kieron Pollard (captain), Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales, Sunil Narine, and Tion Webster. Meanwhile, Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran are the new Trinbago Knight Riders 2022 squad members.
Trinidad and Tobago is going to be one of the host locations for the CPL 2022. This island country will host eight matches between September 12 and 18, including four featuring the Knight Riders.
CPL Winners
The CPL is a relatively young competition, introduced in 2013. It is also a small league consisting of only six teams. In the first two years, the Antigua Hawksbills represented the island nation of Antigua and Barbuda but were later defunct and replaced by the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Since then, there have been no changes to the composition of the CPL.
The CPL has had four different champions in its 9-year existence. The Jamaica Tallawahs won the inaugural CPL, defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final. The second time around, it was the Barbados Royals who won, once more leaving the Amazon Warriors as the runner-up.
The period between 2015 and 2020 was dominated by the Trinbago Knight Riders, who won four titles, failing to triumph only in 2016 (Jamaica) and 2019 (Barbados). In 2021, the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots made it to the list of CPL winners by beating the Saint Lucia Kings in the final.
Here is a table showing the best results for all current CPL teams.
Team | Champions | Runner Up |
---|---|---|
Trinbago Knight Riders | 4 (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020) | - |
Barbados Royals | 2 (2014, 2019) | 1 (2015) |
Jamaica Tallawahs | 3 (2013, 2016, 2022) | - |
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots | 1 (2021) | 1 (2017) |
Guyana Amazon Warriors | - | 5 (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019) |
Saint Lucia Kings | - | 2 (2020, 2021) |
CPL 2023 — Betting Tips
Here are a few strategies that can boost your chances of making successful bets in the forthcoming CPL season:
- Detailed team analysis: Diving deep into the dynamics of each CPL team can be incredibly beneficial. Look at their recent match results, performances at specific venues, and their track record against specific opposition. Historical patterns often repeat themselves.
- Player form and match-ups: Individual players can turn the game around in T20 cricket. Monitor the form of key batsmen and bowlers but also consider the head-to-head match-ups. Certain players perform exceptionally well against particular opponents or struggle against specific bowler types.
- Pitch characteristics and weather: In the CPL, pitch and weather conditions can dramatically impact the game. Teams from the Caribbean are often better equipped to handle humid conditions and slower pitches. Also, rain can shorten matches, making the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method a factor to consider.
- In-play betting strategies: Capitalise on live betting opportunities. For instance, wagering on the next wicket to fall or staking money on the number of runs scored in an upcoming over can prove lucrative, especially if you understand the game's rhythm.
- Up-to-the-minute league news: Stay informed with real-time updates on player injuries, team changes, and any last-minute surprises. Such details can influence the betting market and game outcomes significantly.
- Value betting: Instead of merely following the crowd, look for bets that offer value. This might involve wagering on underdogs or betting on specific in-play scenarios that you think the bookmakers may have priced incorrectly.
- Responsible betting: Lastly, the thrill of betting should never compromise your financial well-being. Set a budget, stick to it, and remember it's all about enjoying the game.
